Wind Wraith "Minions of Metal" When a Metal band uses the sacred word “metal” in the title for one of its albums, you can pretty much guess what you’re going to get! Hailing from the USA, Wind Wraith were formed in the year 2000 and play some impressive Heavy-Metal, in the good old classical American way, with some hints at bands like Metal Church and quite a bit of Manowar. I am more than impressed with this band I had never heard before! In particular, I’m absolutely stunned by the heavy, riffing and shredding by the Trotti/Dellasala/Blair team. These guys come through very strong with some pure, overwhelming, headbanging addicting riffs. Just listen to the killer tune “Minions of Metal” or the pure heavy-metal anthem “ It should be also clear by this time which other aspect of this band got me pretty much impressed: Scott Oliva. He is a very competent, strong vocalist, unleashing some vicious screaming, reminding me of Eric Adams in his prime, crossed with Bruce Dickinson with his vibrato. All in all, a great performance! If you enjoy Traditional Heavy-Metal, done the American way, “Minions of Metal” will give you one hell of a ride with half a dozen killer tunes, like the “maidenesque” “Eternal Void”, “Nightmares”, “Iron Mask”… well, if I would point out the bad tunes, it would indeed save me a lot of time: there are none! Towards the end we get the ripping riffing of “The Devil’s Path” and the Thor’s cover “Let The Blood Run Red” from the 1985 album “Only The Strong”, ending the album with a very nod to the gods of times gone by. Much like this last track, the album has a traditional feel, without sounding outdated. It is in fact quite refreshing and strongly energetic, and while the titans of the past are still around at the top of their shape, it is great to see new bands of this quality coming to existence. "Minions of Metal" Quando uma banda de metal usa a palavra sagrada “Metal” no título de um dos seus álbuns, conseguimos adivinhar perfeitamente o que nos espera! Chegando-nos dos EUA, os Wind Wraith foram formados no ano 2000 e dão-nos um impressionante Heavy-Metal feito à moda antiga Americana, com algumas semelhanças com bandas como Metal Church ou Manowar. Fiquei mais que impressionado com esta banda que desconhecia! Em especial, estou absolutamente estupefacto com o riffing pesado e o shredding do trio Trotti/Dellasala/Blair. Estes senhores surgem muito fortes, com alguns riffs demolidores e viciantes, muito convidativos para o headbang. Ouça-se por exemplo a excelente “Minions of Metal” o puro hino de metal “Lake of Time”, a minha música favorita em todo o álbum: é simplesmente um dos melhores convites ao headbang que ouvirão este ano. Sem contestação! Por esta altura deve ser claro que outro aspecto desta banda me deixou bastante impressionado: Scott Oliva. Scott é um vocalista muito competente e forte, libertando alguns gritos furiosos, lembrando Eric Adams nos seus tempos áureos, cruzado com Bruce Dickinson e o seu vibrato. No seu todo, uma performance excelente! Se gostarem de Heavy-Metal tradicional, à maneira Americana, “Minions of Metal” dar-vos-á uma bela de uma cavalgada, com meia dúzia de músicas demolidoras como a maidenesca “Eternal Void”, “Nightmares”, “Iron Mask”… se eu mencionasse as músicas más, pouparia muito tempo: não há! Lá para o fim do álbum surge o riffing estonteante de “The Devil's Path” e a cover dos Thor, “Let The Blood Run Red” do álbum “Only The Strong” de 1985, um belo aceno aos deuses de tempos passados. Tal como esta última trilha, o álbum tem um sentimento tradicional sem parecer desfasado. De facto, é bastante refrescante e fortemente energético e enquanto os titãs do passado continuam por cá em topo de forma, é óptimo ver novas bandas desta qualidade a surgirem no panorama metálico internacional.
