Três anos volvidos os Suecos fazem o impensável e superam-se a eles próprios com um estonteante “Sing-Along Songs For The Damned And Delirious”, uma alucinante viagem entre o génio e o musicalmente insano, exibindo uma inacreditável pluralidade de atmosferas. A título de exemplo, a perfeita “A Tapdancer’s Dilemma” inicia o álbum com uma atmosfera de ballroom Jazz invocativa da Chicago dos anos 40, passando de início a uma “A Rancid Romance”, de influências Espanholas, o despeito de um amor em que os amantes discutem com as fintas de um toureiro sugeridas pelo clarinete, suponho que um aceno às Zarzuelas Espanholas.

Contar as influências patentes neste álbum é como consultar uma enciclopédia musical, do flamengo ao jazz, da música clássica ao swing, influências medievais, toda uma miríade de salpicos culturais numa mescla com algo de rocambolesco, algo de insano e a correspondente genialidade, com bastante humor à mistura. “SASFTDAD” supera o seu predecessor ao manter o interesse do início ao fim através da intensa variedade cromática das suas exóticas sonoridades e ergue-se um álbum soberbo, inquestionavelmente destinado ao Metaleiro de requinte à procura do especial, único e inesquecível.

When in 2006 DSO release “The Butcher’s Ballroom”, the world of metal was left stunned by the unforeseen mixture of new and unexpectedly explored territories and musical landscapes. “The Butcher’s Ballroom” was a superb album, but could it be topped? Could the band overcome the novelty stamp?

Three years gone by and the Swedes do the unthinkable and top themselves with a mind-blowing “Sing-Along Songs For The Damned And Delirious”, an hallucinating journey between the genius and the musically insane, showing off an unbelievable number of different atmospheres. To exemplify, the perfect “A Tapdancer’s Dilemma” opens up the album with a ballroom jazz note to remind you of Chicago in the 40’s, then giving place to a Spanish influenced “A Rancid Romance”, quite like the title suggests, about the despite of two lovers arguing and pointing fingers while dodging their own faults like a bullfighters plays the bull as suggested by the clarinet melody, I suppose that a nod to the famous Spanish Zarzuelas.

Counting the influences obvious in this album is like going through a musical encyclopedia, from flamenco to jazz, from classical music to swing, medieval undertones, a whole rainbow of cultural tints resulting in a mix filled with the rocambolesque, the insane and corresponding genius, with a lot of humor thrown in. “SASFTDAD” tops its predecessor by maintaining the level of interest all through the intense chromatic variety of its exotics sonorities and rises up as a superb album, unquestionably for the exquisite metalhead looking for something special, unique and unforgettable.
