MADE OF HATE - "Pathogen"

Dos Polacos Made Of Hate ainda se sabe pouco. São jovens, ambiciosos, e apresentam-se com uma sonoridade reminiscente de Children Of Bodom, algo bem mais presente na sua estreia de 2008, "Bullet In Your Head", que em "Pathogen", lançado no passado dia 27 de Agosto, via AFM Records.

"Pathogen" apresenta-nos uma banda realmente mais madura, de maior apetência para a melodia, com alguns refrães interessantes e apelativos, com interacções entre várias vozes a darem outra dinâmica às letras. Apesar de tudo não estamos perante vocais de outro mundo, mas considero um ponto positivo que não ultrapassem aquela fina linha que separa o Melodeath do Metalcore e que é frequentemente desrespeitada.

É a nível instrumental que a banda realmente consegue destacar-se, graças a um portentoso trabalho de guitarra da dupla Kostrzynski/Polrolniczak que enche o álbum de riffs poderosos, leads endiabradas e solos furiosos, quase exibicionistas, claramente visível no início de "Friend" ou na excelente "You, Departed". É realmente impossível encontrar um mau momento de guitarra neste álbum.

Ao mesmo tempo, os Made Of Hate fazem uma aposta em ritmos mais variados, a meio gás, sem encherem "Pathogen" de corridas desenfreadas, procurando manter cada tema interessante com influências progressivas, Hard-Rock, e sendo de destacar a competente secção rítmica e as estruturas progressivas. Por vezes a bateria adquire um ritmo quase dance, e alguns temas tornam-se infecciosos... um bom sentimento para um álbum patogénico? Assim, "Lock'n'load" é um puro headbanger, mas temas como "Pathogen" e mesmo o final "Questions" se apresentam muito fortes.

No fundo, sem apresentarem inovações marcantes, os Made Of Hate deixam subentendida a energia da juventude e a ideia que passa é que este grupo de músicos está realmente a divertir-se, acabando por beneficiar o ouvinte. Aconselha-se aos Made Of Hate algum arrojo extra, mas se gostam de Death Metal Melódico de digestão fácil e apreciam guitarradas exuberantes, este álbum é para vós. Quando a mim, este é o segundo álbum da banda que ouço e considero-me fisgado.

MADE OF HATE - "Pathogen"

From Poland's Made Of Hate many will know little. They are young, ambitious, and bring us a sound reminiscente of Children Of Bodom, something quite more clear on their 2008 debut "Bullet In Your Head" than in "Pathogen", released this past August 27th, through AFM Records.

"Pathogen" shows us a matured band, possessing greater skills for melody, with some very interesting chorus lines, thanks to vocal interplays that give the lyrics a whole new dynamic. Yet, we're not witnessing stellar vocals, but I'll take it as a positive point that the thin line between Melodic Death Metal and Metalcore isn't crossed as it so often happens.

It's on the instrumental level that the band really shines, thanks to a mighty guitar work by the team of Kostrzynski/Polrolniczak, who fill the album with powerful riffing, wild leads and soaring soloing, almost exhibitionist as we can see in the beginning of "Friend" or the excellent "You, Departed". You really can't find a bad guitar moment in this album.

At the same time, Made Of Hate bet on more varied rhythms, usually midtempo, without filling "Pathogen" with speed races, seeking to keep the songs interesting with progressive and Hard-Rock influences, while I really should point out the competent rhythm section and the prog structures. Sometimes the drumming is almost dance-like and the songs become rather infectious, a suitable feeling for a pathogenic album? That's how "Lock'n'load" turns out a pure headbanger, but songs like "Pathogen" and even the final "Questions" prove very strong.

Deep down, without bringing forth any innovations, Made Of Hate show us the energy of youth and the idea you get is these guys were really having fun playing these songs, the listener being the one that benefits the most. I would ask Made Of Hate for a bit more experimentation, but if you like easily digestible Melodic Death Metal and you enjoy exuberant guitars, this album is for you. As for myself, this is the second album I have the pleasure of listening to, and I confess I'm hooked.
