Rock Bunnies - Speedmachine

Não adoram Hard Rock à moda antiga, cheio de Blues?

Eu adoro e os Austríacos Rock Bunnies constituem uma excelente surpresa. Tratam-se de um guitarrista (Klaus Schubert dos No Bros) e três jovens muito talentosas, que nos trazem um rock muito interessante, ao mesmo tempo moderno, mas cheio da aura dos anos 70, com inúmeras referências a Deep Purple, Uriah Heep e Led Zeppelin.

Os riffs são assertivos, e os temas invariavelmente interessantes, com grandes teclas do convidado Andi Brunner, aquele tão carismático tom de Hammond, e um nível técnico sempre louvável, mas a grande surpresa é a poderosa e expressiva vocalista Tici Westreicher, capaz das mais interessantes variações de voz e com um delicioso timbre morno e maleável, uma voz que serve perfeitamente ao rock bluesy que a banda toca.

Basta ouvir "Under My Skin" ou a sensual "Heartbreakers", a endiabrada "Speedmachine", a melódica "Kill The Lion" , as doces baladas "On A Better Way" ou "Carry On", e é bem aparente que os Rock Bunnies tocam basicamente tudo com grande distinção.

A sua combinação de influências é incrivelmente fluída e com um resultado refrescante. Ouça-se a este título "Desperados On The Run", um instrumental com um pouco de Deep Purple e Thin Lizzy, entre outros, e perceber-se-á o que quero dizer. A variedade está obviamente assegurada, mas com 16 temas e quase uma hora de duração "Speedmachine" é talvez longo demais e se ouvido de rajada, parece tornar-se repetitivo, mas um ou outro tema são os tais instrumentais, destacando-se também "B3 In Rock", cheio de efeitos tipicamente 70's que lembra, ora Deep Purple, ora a experimentação de Tommy Bolin.

No entanto, ouvido sem ordem específica, com alguns intervalos, "Speedmachine" revela temas bastante interessantes de identidade própria e com poucas fraquezas. Acaba assim vivamente recomendado.

Estarei com toda a certeza de olho posto nos próximos lançamentos dos Austríacos.

Don't you just love old school, bluesy, Hard Rock?

I do, and Austria's Rock Bunnies are and excellent surprise. They are one male guitarrist (Klaus Schubert from No Bros) and three young talented ladies, that bring us a very interesting rock, both modern and filled with the 70's aura, with references to Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Led Zeppelin.

The riffing is strong, the songs invariably interesting, with great keyboards by guest Andi Brunner, with a very charismatic Hammond sound, but the great surprise is the powerful and expressive lead singer Tici Westreicher, capable of the most interesting twists to her vocals and a deliciously warm tone, the kind of voice that fits perfectly to the bluesy rock the band plays.

Just listen to "Under My Skin" or the sexy "Heartbreakers", the wild "Speedmachine", the melodic "Kill The Lion" , the sweet ballads "On A Better Way" or "Carry On", and it becomes quite apparent that Rock Bunnies can basically play everything.

Their combination of influences is incredibly fluid and with a refreshing result. As an example, take a look at "Desperados On The Run", an instrumental with a bit Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy, among others, and you'll realize that variation is assured, but with 16 songs and almost an hour long "Speedmachine" is perhaps too long and if heard all at once may feel somewhat repetitive, but one or two songs are the instrumentals, including "B3 In Rock", filled with typical 70's effects that remind me of Deep Purple or Tommy Bolin's wild experimentations.

On the other hand, heard in no specific order and with some pauses "Speedmachine" reveals very interesting songs, each with its own sound and little weaknesses. So it turns out really recommended.

I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for the Austrians next releases.
