U.D.O. - "Rev-Raptor"

Eis o novo álbum de U.D.O., atrasado devido a problemas de saúde do baterista da banda, mas lançado finalmente dia 20 de Maio.

Como é já marca da banda, "Rev-Raptor" não surpreende, mas ainda menos desilude, apresentando a solidez tipicamente Germânica dos U.D.O. com um compasso assertivo e pesado, triturador como um panzer a avançar impiedoso pela estepe, mas sempre com melodias presentes.

O mesmo tom algo cibernético das guitarras de "Dominator", uma reverberância motorizada, está aqui presente e não cai mal nas temáticas do álbum. A bateria é ponderada, os riffs muito bem sacados e fortes, e Udo Dirkschneider é igual a si próprio. "Rev-Raptor" ou "Leatherhead" são temas impiedosos, enquanto "Dr. Death" e "Rock'n'Roll Soldiers" apresentam refrães mais infecciosos, com "Terrorvision" a trazer-nos uma toada mais retro, ficando para "Days Of Hope and Glory" e "I Give As Good As I Get" o papel de baladas. Boas baladas.

As memórias de Accept estão bem presentes em "Rev-Raptor", que não apresenta realmente uma evolução em relação aos excelentes "Dominator" e "Mastercutor", ao mesmo tempo marcando o terceiro álbum em que pequenas mudanças numa fórmula consumada e lôngeva a imbuem de nova vitalidade e, apesar de não se reinventarem, nem inovarem muito, os U.D.O. estão em excelente forma. É talvez um erro exigir-lhes evolução: os U.D.O. fornecem precisamente aquilo que os fãs esperam receber deles.

U.D.O. - Rev-Raptor

Here is the new release by U.D.O., delayed due to their drummer's health problems, but now ready to be unleashed on May 20th.

As we have come to expect from the band, "Rev-Raptor" doesn't quite surprise you, but it certainly won't disappoint, presenting you with typical Teutonic solidity, with an assertive and heavy pace, a grinding panzer advanced mercilessly through the steppes, but always with melody around.

The same somewhat cybernetic guitar tone from "Dominator", a motorized reverberance is here present and it suits the album's themes well. The drumming is well paced, the riffs very appealing and strong, while Udo Dirkschneider is equal to himself. "Rev-Raptor" or "Leatherhead" are merciless songs, while "Dr. Death" and "Rock'n'Roll Soldiers" present more infectious choruses, with "Terrorvision" sounding more retro and leaving "Days Of Hope and Glory" and "I Give As Good As I Get" as the ballads. Good ballads.

Memories of Accept are well present in "Rev-Raptor", which presents little to no evolution when compared with the excellent "Dominator" and "Mastercutor", while at the same time marking the third time in a row when small twists give an old formula a new vitality and, even without reinventing themselves, or even innovating, U.D.O. are in great shape. It's probably a mistake to demand them evolution: U.D.O. deliver exactly what the fans expect to get from them.
